Tom Conway is the Chief Executive Officer for Small Business BC (SBBC), British Columbia’s premier resource center for entrepreneurs whose mission is to “Elevate Every BC Business.” As an experienced business owner himself, he understands how having access to education, support and resources can make all the difference when starting and growing a company.
Prior to joining SBBC, he served at executive director for the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society (BCSS), where he led the charge in education, fundraising, research and advocacy for people with schizophrenia, psychosis, and other serious and persistent mental illness.
Tom brings with him more than 25 years of senior leadership experience including advocacy, fundraising and governance. Tom served as the Pacific U.S. Regional Director of YPO, part of a global network of over 25,000 CEOs where he managed two Boards, 60+ chapters and an international management team. Prior to YPO, Tom was the President and CEO of Easter Seals Central California, providing leadership to more than 150 employees in a non-profit organization devoted to serving the needs of children and adults with disabilities.
When he isn’t supporting entrepreneurs at SBBC, Tom can be found whale watching or hiking in any number of BC parks or along the seawall. Tom became a Canadian citizen in November 2021, and is originally from Chicago, where he met his husband Guy Dansereau, a chef and Montreal native.
Tom is an ex-officio member of the Roundtable and joined in 2020.
