Overview

The Northeast region borders Alberta and the Yukon and is part of the Peace River Basin. It is separated from the northwestern part of the province by the Rocky Mountain Trench. The region is home to 68,000 people - 1% of the provincial population - who are concentrated in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek. The key industries include oil, gas, mining, forestry and agriculture.
